OPULENT NOTHINGNESS
It is not lost on us that the “count-as-one”—that transparent pseudonym with which the current situation tries to pass itself off as eternally obvious—has nothing organizational about it. It is the negation of the imperceptible appearing within the perceptible, a fallacy which commands a myriad of local ruptures between life and meaning, innovation and established classification. Rational discourse, professional decorum, and metric evaluation are nothing but the terrible masks invented by one and the same absence to approach us. They compose the grammar of a world that can no longer hold our gaze. Speech acquires legitimacy only through decorating the rise of commodity relations with a bored irony ; the encyclopedia is thus a spiritual vomit pedestal for a cabal of brain-dead, sanctimonious assholes.
Power circulates through them as evaluation and normalization—hygienic spiritualities that domination must put to work to save its nihilism. Strategic Leadership and Resilience are merely the hollow conceptuality of things that the spirit has gone out of. They cultivate individuals who physically wilt when they negate their metaphysical dimension, translating their capacities into the “distant business” of measurable performance. Judgment assumes a procedural form, an underwater glow of televisions where legitimacy is inseparable from the audit culture, whereby the subject demonstrates worth through a reified consciousness that does not even attempt to transcend its own reification. Professionalization emerges only as a disciplined mode of life, a state of social hegemony where the ghost of the self continues to haunt the particular identifiable operations of the office.
Radical disagreement is expelled from the gates of Publicity as an ethical deficiency or a communicative failure. Within this administratively saturated order, the differénd is mispresented as a demand for improved tone. Civility and reasonableness function as selection apparatuses, ever more ruinous and drastic, designed to exclude those who were unable to eradicate any remaining propensity towards humanity left in themselves. Antagonism is reformulated as refined procedure, a burlesque travesty by which commodity society attempts to immunize itself against its own internal disquiet.
The event—that rupture that reconfigures the coordinates of the situation—is channeled into managed innovation, a branded disruption that signifies Nothingness itself. Novelty as entrepreneurial initiative, a retail package for the void left by Critical Metaphysics. The decisive question then concerns whether the subject can sustain a commitment to truths that exceed their administrative capture—a fidelity that requires a particular stubbornness people often disregard as madness. This is the long askesis of the Imaginary Party, now merely a residue that falls outside the universal plane of the global economy.
What have we allowed to slip to the periphery, believing it lost forever, and what would it mean to return it to the center? Can our so-called stability—built on the alignment of subjectivity with administration—contain within it the truths it displaces, or merely pretend to? Finally, when the event speaks, does it not expose the tension we refuse to see? Should one follow fidelity here, the desert of the present must burn, forcing upon us a confrontation with the wreckage of the Real so as to imagine a founding not yet realized—otherwise, all that passes for reality will continue to claim our unquestioned allegiance while we live unmade, subject to a world that will not let us return.
